Sydney Philharmonia Choirs
Formed in 1920, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs occupies a unique position in the performing arts world. Combining members of four choirs, the chorus is Australia’s largest choral organisation and its popularity grows with each new season of concerts. Sydney Philharmonia presents its own annual concert series at the Sydney Opera House and City Recital Hall Angel Place, while also acting as chorus for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Challenging, uplifting and exhilarating, the chorus is celebrating its 90th anniversary in 2010 with an imaginative season exploring some of the timeless triumphs of the choral repertoire, from Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius to Mozart’s Requiem. The anniversary year will also see Sydney Philharmonia makes its triumphant return to London in July to again take part in the BBC Proms.
